About I took this picture many years ago. It's a door of an abandoned house in Buenos Aires City, Argentina. Originally in B&W, then turned to sepia in PS.

excellent textures and tones. It invokes such a sense of sadness to look at it... something, a time perhaps, that is lost....

Hugo this is a very interesting and engaging image..I like the subject matter and I think the sepia tones are very effective in terms of adding to the drama: the sense of being old and broken down, dreary, and abandoned. I get a very strong and abrupt feeling to stay away. The chipped, cracked, and missing pieces of stucco add to the effect. I like the contrasting tones of light and dark, and the textures as well. Aprovecho esta oportunidad para expresarte mi agradecimiento por haberme acogido a tu grupo de amigos. Un abrazo de quién te aprecia y te distingue, cariñosamente....:):)Linda

Also you are a teacher, we are colleagues!!! You live in a very beautiful country that I would like to visit. Unfortunately the works of the past are not always appreciated and well preserved in Italy, there are everywhere houses, buildings, churches, palaces that fall in ruin. Your splendid photo is a bit the symbol of this situation in our two countries. Hugs, Max

Nice 'door subject'. I like especialy when the building is ruid. Very nice also ...how the people keep the door close. Nice the sepia on old door.

Superb picture, so realistic I can almost open it, but it is shuttered. And the walls are splendid too. I am sure this door has seen some glorious days 100 years and now it is glorious again in your picture.
Best wishes, Alex

Wonderful door, with the dignity of a great past.
Nothing to thank,I only show the beauty of your country, pity I can not show the kindness of your people.Argentina deserves my best thanks.Soon I?ll start to try to show Buenos Aires,a magic town full of mystic names, all europeans of good memory never forget.
You must be proud of your lovely country.

Dear friend Amitava: I don't remember what I did in PS on my pic "Old Door" because I did it a couple of months ago with the assistance of my daughter. Regards, Hugo Pierre.
Post Scriptum: What you say about my pic(Old Door)is absolutely right. Thanks!

Amitava Banerjea   {K:7088} 9/17/2003
Too bad this door is nailed shut. The overall impression of nostalgia is sweet and the bar on the door comes across as a rude violation, a travesty. That's a strong message!
Love the tone. Would you care to comment on how you achieve your sepia toning in PS? What color values or RGB ratio?

  0

Beatriz Padín   {K:682} 9/14/2003
Creo que esta imagen en color sepia la torna más nostálgica que la original en Blanco y Negro. Buen trabajo.
