Thanks for the comment, John. The only real difference betwixt your Hoya R72 and the Wratten 87 is that yours is a glass filter. My Wratten is a gelatin filter, 3"x3", that has to be inserted into a special gel filter holder and screwed on to my lens. Same infrared filter, I think. B&H was out of the Hoya R72, so I've been using a Wratten that l was able to purchase locally. Gel filters have advantages and disadvantages. The disadvantage is that they're not intended to be used in temps over 78 degrees F. And if you look at them the wrong way they will dissolve.

Nice IR shot, with good DOF, composition, and fantasy! It looks like a B/W painting. Good job! What's the difference between the Wratten R87 filter and my Hoya R72 filter?
