its a little bullseye for my taste. the colour is nice and rich and I feel the potential but it seems like the tip of the kayak points nowhere. the sky mirroring the ocean is the bulk of the image and the kayaks seem to lack commitment or intention.

Hi Joe, I appreciate the comment! As for exposure, I'm terrible about keeping records (i.e. I don't) ... but, it was a very bright day and it was on the beach around mid-day, so by the Sunny 16 rule the exposure would be something like 1/100 & f/16 or f/22.

Joffre, I really like this picture, its colour and composition. Could you please provide the exposure used for this shot. Thank

Marc,
Thank you! As for intent, I was attracted to the shot simply for the graphic appeal of the contrast of the garish kayak colors to the more "natural" blues and sand color. The shot is actually cropped a bit, I did shoot something akin to what you suggest, but preferred this tighter presentation.

Really good shot. I get a sense of people just finished a nice trip, and taking a break on a nice beach. Is that what you were going for? I wonder if moving back from the kayaks a bit could improve that impression. Good shot, Cheers, Marc

Sarah, thanks for the comments. I did not use a polarizer on this shot, this actually is what the scene looked like. There's another shot in my folder called "Sarasota Beach" that was taken in the same place, just a few minutes later. The blues are very similar.

I really like this composition. The blues stand out well, did you use a polariser?
