Hi Emgy!
Very nice shot! I like the soft background with the sharp skater. It's allmost like the skater is flying through the air! I know how difficult it is to make such photos, because you don't know what trick the skater is going to do and where he will land.

Thank you, John.
This was my first action shot taken with my old Sony Mavica. One of those digital camera where everything goes automatically and there are little of no options for whatever shot. It's a very simple camera tha has less than 1 milion pixels and one where you cannot select the white balance nor the aperture or the shutter speed. Maybe I will try again a similar shot with my new camera, then I will definitely follow your advice. Very useful data, thanks a lot
Emgy

CONGRATULATIONS! Bravo Emgy! This isreally fantastic capture! Little bit faster shutter speed with also white ballance added at +0.3 or +0.7 and an aperture at big (f/2) but this is surely not big deal. The result is also very good! 7+!

You've done really well to get this. It can be so hard to get the timing right and anticipate where in the frame the skater will be. Ive got a box full of really bad photos like this so good work. I've found using a flash with a 'rear curtain sync' (? I know what I mean :)) works well as it will catch the movement but get a good frozen shot of the skater as well. Anyway good nice one.

Great timing, shame it wasn't a bit sharper with a softer background but we can't have everything!
