Bill,
I just love the title - it makes me smile!!
Herons are beautiful birds and this a great shot - I don't know how big the original file is but this looks as if we could see the detail in his feathers if it were large (not your fault about the file size of presentation).
I do agree with those who wish the background were more blurred and I also agree it is too bad we don't have the feet - but still - you take what you can get before he does fly!!

Nice capture Bill. You have good eye-level composition on this one. Also like the clarity and that red eye. I have many images of the Black Crowned Night Heron and always try to get that beautiful eye good and sharp. Wish you could have had a better background, but sometime you have to take what nature has given you.

Good capture of that Night Heron. I had shot this bird with eggs. Since both look alike I dunno whether it's the pa or ma.

Birds don't make good subjects unless you got them train for the like to take off. This is a nice bird like his eye excellent image and detail.

Pretty sharpt for handheld. I wish the background was a bit more blurred, but there's still pretty good separation of the subject.
