Todd,
I'm glad I may have altered your opinion on 'Sunsets'!!!
As you may have realised I am an avid sky recorder, as each event is totally unique, and to be able to catch these events acurately on film is wonderful (in my opinion).
Colours: The colours you see presented in the pictures here are pretty accurate - In fact similar or the same as those you would experience on a projected slide. During the scanning process the accuracy of these colours does deminish, so a little work in selective colors in PS IS necessary. Over saturation in an attempt to better the image results in loss of detail and it looks Yuk!
The best places to experience sunsets 'inspectacularum magignificii' as always coastal or better still around islands where unique weather patterns occur. The Maldives & Aldabra (IO) being two of the best.

bob, i HATE sunset pics, but some of these in your portfolio are really great. you've captured some amazing colors! i must ask, have the colors been altered w/ PS? nice work!

GLORIOUS colours! Well caught! It's unusual for a sunset photo to have almost no horizon/ground in it, and that makes it stand out. You could even try shaving off the very bottom of the image so that the horizon isn't visible at all.
