Another fantastic evening shot Paul. Thought the markings on the road meant the speed limit was 40 and the road was shared by bicycle riders. Didn't realize that the bikers were also going 40+ until I read your posts.

It's an elaborate tale, but one I made up. The illustration on the road is to let drivers know they share the road with cyclist and the 40 (Kilometres Per Hour) is for all road users. Sorry Harry but I couldn't resist :) Regards

Over the last few years, cycling has become very popular in Australia and Newcastle is the epicentre. Some of the people engaging in the fad are young, very fit and in many cases, irresponsible. They get around at speeds of up to 85 miles an hour and as a result, many local councils have put a speed limits in place. The speed limit at Wallsend is 40mph Regards
