About The beauty that was under the hood of the 1966 Pontiac GTO.

It came with a 389 engine that produced 335 hp (250 kW) at 5,000 rpm for the base 4—barrel engine. The Tri-Power engine produced 360 hp (270 kW) at 5,200 rpm.

The GTO became a separate Pontiac model (model number 242) in 1966, instead of being an "option package" on the Tempest LeMans. The tail light featured a rare louvered cover, only seen on the GTO. An automotive industry first, plastic front grilles replaced the pot metal and aluminum versions seen on earlier years. Sales of 96,946 GTO's were the highest production figure for all GTO years.

Thank you Paul. I just can't get over how the owners of these cars keep the engines so clean and in perfect shape.

Unfortunately "Handyman" wasn't available the day I went to the car show or I would have taken her there for sure.

When a car catches my attention and they have the hood raised, I will get at least a couple of shots of the engine because they do keep them so clean. If I've got a shot of a '57 Bel Air I'll put that up for you.

I was wishing to see a view of the power plant. Your capture here is just as stunning as was that of the whole car. Great work on both!! Darryl

Beautiful view side that nicely made up motor compartment.
The red is great . On Fender Strut guitars they used it as Dakota Red in the 60ies too.
Very well done
Jan
