Thanks for your comment Clay,many of the houses and barns out here are built o Oak, our's included. There are very few left arond us now. I know that the people used what was close to them to build their houses, ( i'm talking 100 years ago)But back then there was no replanting, only what mother nature did. Pity Oak does not grow as fast as Pine.

Hopefully there will be new trees and the cycle will continue. I can remember for several years, back in the 70's, oak was in style so you can imagine how many oak trees were cut down to supply the demand during that time period.
