About	This is the power producing side of a Shay Locomotive. There are 3 steam driven cylinders that are connected to a crank shaft. This turns the drive shafts which have gears that drive 4 sets of wheels on the engine and 4 sets of wheels on the tender car behind the engine. These units are narrow gage and are used for pulling cut logs out of the forests to the saw mill.
