Hi Kelly, A beautiful shot of the GBH. It's interesting how sometimes these birds will get used to people and allow great photo ops, and others remain completely wild. We currently have about 8 or 9 of them roosting in the trees near our local marsh. They are extremely shy and will not let me get close at all right now. I assume it is because they are stopping for a rest for a while before they fly further south for the winter. They might be from some remote area where they are not used to people. Sometimes the young ones near our cottage have no fear of people and will come quite close by to feed on the shore. Once they get to a certain age, they keep their distance again. Anyway, a great shot. Andre

What a dolly bird, very aesthetic shot! What a joy to get so close, that yellow eye so keen of its surroundings, a real priv. he let you so close! I love great blue herons, they can be so spunky! They love to steal hot dogs from the gators at the reptile park here. Excellent capture!
