Very beautiful and visceral -- I can feel the bark under my hand. The dark part, upper, gives this a sad quality for me, but still, I am content to run my eyes over the textures over and over.
I have been looking over a lot of your images tonight, and seeing them as a whole brings to mind Rilke's the opening Duino Elegy: Who, If I cried out, would hear me amongst the angels?

the idea was to put the mysterious dark side this time up (note the dripping water :) maybe I should rework it I'll try the darker the better, in my humble opinion

This is one of a good series. This particular one doesn't seem as strong to me just because it is a pattern shot without a strong center of interest. I don't think the so-called "rules" apply in every case, but if they are to be ignored, we need a firm sense of why.
