A small bit of suggestion....crop the photo so the blue bit of the star field in the flag is the topmost point... that will force the eyes of the viewer down to the main point of the image. And even more radical... cut the top down to the wee bit of the three lowest and best seen stars... and the image takes on strength. Funny how a small bit of cropping can lift emotions. You do not need to show all of te flag... people will make the connection. Attached is my small suggestion.
