Thanks for the review Robbie... It's been a while since I have been on here - still shooting lots of "film" but no time to post! I actually got this one hand held as I was just out with the dog before the greens crew got out on the course, and didn't have the tripod with me. And yes, I did try a couple of different iso's but this one gave me the best combination of saturation, detail and sharpness. As far as the Sigma goes, it is "ok"... I actually bought it 10 years ago used in Hong Kong, and it has put a lot of miles on since then, and is starting to show its age - it is great for the value is the way I would sum it up I guess. It could definitely be sharper at low light levels, but with only a 72mm obj and an f5.6, I guess you get what you pay for, esp that many years ago. Maybe time for something new and updated, but that may bring on the need for a different body as well!
Awesome colors and very sharp image Kerry, very nice.Looking at your exposure I hope you were shooting off a tripod!! Here is a tip for more shots... After you got your 'must have' shots, use your lowest iso for better image quality and shoot at various fstops so you can compare what your camera/lens combo will do. No doubt you got a beautiful image of a very difficult shooting subject.Congrats on your wallhanger. Robbie ps what`s your evaluation of the Sigma 400/5.6.
Very good shot. Morning light on inside the bird in a unique way making it a perfect target for this wonderful picture, A show of colors and tones with superb clarity and superb contrast even better. Congratulations on this excellent photo, Marcus Vianna
Funny, I just posed my first nature/wildlife picture when I came across this shot. What I particularly like about this shot is the limited color pallet directly behind the subject with just enough blue from the sky poking through to make the owl really stand out. Nice work. As you are a wildlife photographer, I'd particularly like your feedback. I'm afraid of where such shots cross the line into cliche. Clearly you've found a way to shoot wildlife with your own style.
