About History is made when something is gone forever. The trees have all died and fallen from the outcropping. The ocean and wind take their toll.
I'm happy that I took the images when I did.

The framing of the lighthouse is what 'makes' this photo.:)

Thank you Shirley. I wasn't sure if I was getting to "artsy" by positioning the lighthouse where I did. I have always liked this one and partly because of the way the rich foreground colors came out.

I really like this original photo, Randy, and something to treasure since all has changed so much there.

The original image was taken 12 or 13 years ago, this image is from about one year ago.
The trees eroded off this outcropping rather quickly.
We used to climb up on this over 30 years ago.

Thank you Eb. I took a new photo from the same location last weekend with the same lens to compare the erosion over time. I believe with 400 speed film.
This is an old image, as are most of mine here. The new one at this location will show these three trees are gone now... time has taken it's toll.

Wonderful image, Randy! The composition is great with near and far in the fog! This is iconic west coast!

Thank you Kallol.
I am lucky to live so close to the coast. It made capturing these images so much easier that a tourist who only has a day or two to view the area here........... so much to see.

Thank you for the comment stingRay. In the small image, look on the left you see large dead trees on top of a small island. Those were once alive and well 30 years ago and still green 20 years ago. I don't know why they all died. Natural causes for sure. It was there time I guess.
You can see the ruggedness of the coast here and can tell it has has been sculpted and weathered away over time. Makes me wonder how much more land was here a few thousand years ago.
The previous Arago Tree photo is another tree that will some day fall off it's precarious perch.

Kinda sad when something like this occurs Randy but such is nature. They did look in a precarious condition, like an accident waiting to happen. A good record kept and a part of history. I love the sight of the lighthouse peering through the trees and the lovely natural tones. Your updated picture is so very different without the trees there. Sad. Best wishes......Ray

I took a photo using a very old low megapixel PS camera today. I enlarged this image as best I could, but you have to look close to see where the trees once were.
I was sure that the trees were down, but drove there today to confirm it.
