It was fun to share with the husband and get some honest feedback from him. He does weddings and many events when he is not working at the Photo store. He has been very helpful with the selection of print paper and accessories for my camera. I think it is fun to build relationships with the people who have been in the business and can offer suggestions and knowledge from their experience too!

Thanks Nick, her husband works at the camera store I do business with. He is a professional photographer and I gave him a print of this shot and was very pleased, said he could not get her to pose for him and was glad to have a nice shot of her. I was happy to have done this in one pressure packed shot. Thanks for the kind words!!

Quite a well done portrait, Stan, with perhaps only a small dosis of overexposure at the very left end of the left cheek. It still looks natural under this strong light and very accurate in skin tones and relief capturing. One almost touches the highlighted anaglyph of the face because of the very nice subtle hue/light gradients.
The details like for example all those charmy small smile wrinkles around the eyes and the textures of the skin are captured in such a delicate balance. Well visible yet not at all under the pixelation curse of nowadays. The good contrast against the dark hair completes the portrait excellently.
Very fine work!

Thanks Brigitte, I appreciate the nice comment. Hope spring is treating you well. I am back to work, just cannot lift over 10 pounds for another month. I healed quickly and am feeling good.. Have had time to go through some of my work and found this. One of my favorites for my small portrait portfolio. I used a f5.6 from about 5 foot away to get the softer spikes. Keri was a hoot. She said that it was one of her best shots and was pleasantly surprised. If I had more hair I would let her have some fun with it. Bald is beautiful in it's own way. Save on haircuts too!!

I'm pleased for you that everything turned out perfect with this "no pressure" one-shot! lol Congratulations!! I really love the dof which put the whole face in perfect focus but gave the rest of her, from ears back, a very pleasant soft focus which works well on those stiff spikes... makes her look more feminine. Thanks Ken, I was so relieved I got the shot. Her husband is a manager of the local camera store I found out after the shoot. That might have been part of her hesitance to do this.
