About
Found this little one along the coastal path this afternoon .. 'although well camouflaged at rest, the males are highly conspicuous in flight, and can easily be spotted by predatory birds. The orange colouring acts as a warning to birds that these butterflies taste bad. In fact their bodies contain large amounts of mustard oil, and once a bird has tasted this, it is unlikely to eat another orange tip.
What a beautiful butterfly....methinks you are spoilt in Lyme Regis. I have never seen one of these. You have captured the exquisite details and the delicate tones with excellence. The Dof is superb. Once again well done my dear Susie. HUUUUGS and best wishes.....Ray
