Oh, thanks for telling me, Irena. I didn't see the film, so I don't know what its title means and if it has any resemblance to what I mean.

Cheers!

Nick, reminded me this film ... I know that it is not wrote about it, but when I read about the photography, the two words "without emotions" to recall the association, independent from me.

I didn't understand your question, Irena.... what do you mean with the "Medium cool"? :-/

Cheers!

Thank you, Nick. You are right. Street photography is a first of all, documentary. It follows that, I must to remember about it, when I take a picture like this one, and to forget about emotions... but I hope that you haven't in mind the "Medium cool"?

regards,

Irena

Your emotions do *not* have to do anything at all with the emotions that you are trying to capture, Irena. It is *their* emotions, not yours that you are capturing. For that the best way is to stay as detouched as possible or else the image is not a depiction of what was on the street. It is they biased, spoiled, a lie! This is what almost all newspapers do, and this is why nobody can take them seriously anymore. ;-)

It is much like trying to get a good shot of two people in love, and actually shooting the own wishes about what should happen to the own self. This is not the job of the photographer. The photographer is only a messager of things that happen. The photographer, as such, is not part of the game that he tries to photograph. He/she only has to capture it with the greatest possible fidelity and keep his mouth shut about it.

Cheers!

Thank you, Nick for your comment. It was difficult moment for me, because street photo is not for everybody... and it is stressful experience every time for me, so my pictures are intuitive rather.
I know about it, and I try to take my pictures more knowingly, but... probably I like these emotions. :)

kind regards
Irena

Very very well done, Marta! Up to the overexposure on the facedas on the background it is technically perfect to me, and the content is simply strong!

Of course even more important than the already mentioned overexposure it was to get the good details and a good exposure balance of the main subject. The people and the poster are very well visible - actually so well that I would take this one as a photo for a frontpage of some newspaper. The details on the faces and on the people are vivid and magnetic. There are also some blurry faces because of motion blur but in this cases it makes the scene look as vivid and real, as it has been when the demonstration was taking place. The coloring is also exactly fitting the event. Muted, pweorful, but not hollywoodian, as that flatmidned poster on the wall is.

The composition, especially the inclusion of the big poster with yet another unneeded gimmick that we pay for their prosperity was really ingenious! This is the kind of messages on images that say much without any artificial "dramatic", since any artificial dramatic would be cheap hollywood and as such not worthy of the people that went to the streets. I dare compare such an image with "Don't get fooled again" from The Who. The difference between reality and the commercials that want to sell us paradise for some dollars more has the ironic, or even sarcastic power of the statement: They should stick their "presents" in their a**es since we never asked for them.

Great documentary and great shot too!

Thank you, Malules. I think category 'street' is too difficult for me, but I try, because it is my favorite one.
