Location City -  Near Cahokia
State -  ILLINOIS... I LOVE MY STATE... EVEN THOUGH IT SUCKS....
Country - United States   United States
About Monk Mound as seen through the unfinished (because Illinois is a dead-beat state and does not pay its bills) windows of a clever and brilliant visitor center. I met a lady here, she was very nice. I charmed her up in my special "Jimmy" way...

Oh... I guess I never really answered your question. Man-made. Over 300 years and 15 million baskets of hand-toted earth.

Zero for three my friend!!! Drumlin and esker are natural formations as you very well know (I said that for those of lesser intellect) and NOT a burial mound. Monk's Mound was where the high chief had his house. The Chief of the Cahokia had his place on the very tip-top of the mound... and there is a farmer from the 1800's buried near the north-west corner... still, this was a living mound. The burial mounds are scttered about around the 500 acre site.

well... I am sure your state is not the only one.. interesting last night watching Foreign Correspondent (an ABC Overseas current affairs proramme) the journo was in China reporting on the slow train to nowhere, or the economic downturn in China.. he summed up by saying so a whole lot of US housing loan defaulters leads to an economic downturn in China... no one has ever said that before... it will be interesting to see the journos career from now on... even we have trouble hearing the truth sometimes
