About I used to live only a 15 min walk from this gate, and took many photographs of it. Recently I revisited it to take some panoramas. This is a special projection of a small section of a panorama taken at that time. My photographer friend appears in the foreground.

Thank you, Vanessa. Glad you like it. The panorama from which this was taken is to be found at www roger-d-williams com (with dots added in the proper places). Please visit! You need a fast
Internet connection, though, as the files are all large (over 1MB, some even over 2MB!). BTW I liked your portrait, which I saw for the first time when I visited your page.

Wow, Zeev, high praise indeed... Thanks! I am encouraged. I have found software that enables me to extract single views from my 360-degree panoramas with more acceptable perspectives than usual, and I used it here. I have been revisiting a lot of my old panoramas to derive views looking in various directions... In fact I've been posting little else for the last couple of weeks.

Aha, you noticed! Thank you. Yes, I was experimenting with HDR technique in this one. Panoramas often have problems with very wide dynamic range--because you take both against the sun and WITH the sun (so you either get blocked shadows or blown highlights or both). It is hard to combine details in the shadows and highlights and the best way I have found is to underexpose to save the highlights, and then bring up the exposure in the shadows. You need a camera that has little noise, of course.
