YOU ARE DOUBLE RIGHT WOLF. I DID FURTHER RESEARCH AND CAME UP WITH THE SAME ANSWERS YOU DID. IT MUST HAVE BEEN TERRIBLE TO COMMUNICATE WITH ONE PERSON WHEN THEY HAVE A DIFFERENT CODE THAN YOU.

I was a ham too. Callsign PA3AOU. Maily active on VHF with aurora, meteorscatter, sporadic E, all good for abt 2000 km ( in morse .. ) My record is hearing my own CW echos via the moon ( not bad for 80 Watts and a 10 elements yagi )

I noticed that too that SOS should be 3 long 3 short 3 long. This code is probably outdate but its nice to know someone who still knows the code. By the way my Dad was a Ham Radio operator and he knew Morse Code. His call letters were W7GSN which stood for Girls Smell Nice or Gears Screws and Nuts.
