About Sunrise on Inauguration Day 2009 of Barack Obama. Two great friends of mine and I went down to watch a historic day for us in America. Regardless of what one believes politically; I don't think I will ever witness such a historic day in my lifetime again. Over 2 Million people were down at the Mall in D.C. to witness the event. It was an extremely cold day but well worth it! :) I had to take this shot hand held; no tri-pods were allowed unless you had special press credentials that were given to you well ahead of time. No backpacks were allowed either so I could only take one lens with me and so I had to opt for my Sigma 50-500mm. It's a decent lens considering the range but I wish I could have taken others with me.

That must have been a great sight in person. I had to work and catch glimpse's on the internet. I can literally see us standing in front of the capitol and snapping some great shots last April. Super shot as you say it's MONEY!

Great capture - did not see any shot like this in any of the TV coverage that I watched. The dawning of a new era has been well served with this sunrise shot.

Wow. I'd been a campaign volunteer for OFA since March last year, so this day held very special meaning for ME, Rob. I envy that you were in the thick of it, but I am proud to have played a small part in this progressive history that unfolded.

Factoid: All of the major social initiatives in the United States have come in spurts, (abolition, voting rights, civil rights) and they have always happened as a REaction to the over-reaching oppressive policies of the G.O.P.

I'm proud to be an American, and I'm now willing to roll up my sleeves and begin the heavy lifting.

Thanks for sharing this amazing shot, Rob!
