About This is a shot taken from my yard looking onto the Turner Ranch bison herd and the Eagles that are here during the bison Harvest. There are both mature and immature Bald Eagles in this image. I have counted over 75 Eagles in the area in one day.
Be well, Stan

Thanks Alessandro, glad you enjoyed the America that surrounds me. I live next to a 40 square mile ranch. Gives it almost a National park like setting with many birds of prey, wolfs, coyotes, deer, mountain lions, bison, and many bird species. Thanks for the nice comment.

Your shot is dream, it is the America that I dreamed when I was a child, when there are few picture books and Neil Amstrong land on the moon. The plane of your picture is well subdivided and the composition is realy nice, compliments. Alessandro.

Hi Stranger, how are you? Yes, you heard right about the Bison progeny of Ted's herd. They did loose quite a few to anthrax here in Montana this year. They think it was in the dirt that the Bison were i8n contact with. Thanks for the comment.

Lovely, lovely comp, Stan!

I heard somewhere that the Turner herd is one of the more pure Bison herds? That is doesn't have a mix (or much of a mix) of domestic cattle like most of the remaining bisons? Is that true? I think the subject came up because of the Brucellosis infections or something...

Anyway, love the image.

Hi Keith, the Eagles were digesting the meal of the day. This group of Bison were on the hit list for the Bison harvest. Usually 2 are killed in a day. The Harvest is just about done so the Eagles will be moving on in a week or so. A few are here year round, but the competition for territory is a factor for the others moving on. I would love to see your back yard as well.

Nice composition and very interesting Stan. Thanks for showing. Ill show you my backyard one day. Only take one shot hehe. Do you think the eagles were waiting for a Bison to drop or something else? Be well. Keith

Harry, the Bison Harvest is the sale of the right of a person to come and shot a Bison of choice out of a small herd. The person is driven out to the Bison, then allowed to shoot one. Then the ranch uses equipment to gut and clean the animal in the field. It Is then loaded on the persons truck or trailer for them to take it to a butcher to be processed. Bison is very good meat, quite lean!! This was taken with the dreaded Promaster @ 300mm. Have a great day!!

Thanks Shirley, hope you had some fun today!! I went to the Winter Fair in Lewistown,Montana. They had a stick horse race for the kids. It was wonderful but very dusty. Inside a big barn that was 40 degrees, outside it was 0. Cold day and snow tonight.

Macaber word, Bison harvest ... ;-) Is that shoot, kill, slaughter in the field Stan ? And all is used or only beef ?
The bald eagles, like most birds are the messenger in the sky and tell whats happening.
300 mm I guess. Good contrast and details.

Top back at you my dear Mitra. I used a sepia filter to about 75% luminosity after desaturation.
I really like the way it affects the tones. So good to hear from you and hope all is well for you.
Be well, your friend Stan
