About	Bridge over river Kwai. The original bridge was about 300 meters away from this place. It was built under japanese control with help of prisoners of war. A large contigent of english soldiers captured by surprise in Singapore ( 120.000 ? ), plus p.o.w. from various countries. I visited a cemetary with pow's from Holland in Kanchanaburi. It was very well kept and unreal to see fellow country men with dutch names. Many aged 18 - 24. My age during the visit. Tears flow. Only God knows what cruelties took place. The bridge on the photo was built after the war and is used by pedestrians, cyclists etc. Kanchanaburi, 1983, slide.

Many countries in a short time. I wish I had more time. Usually I had to work during weekdays and had sparetime sometimes in the weekend. But it does not make me a better human. Wiser ? Still you can visit more places than me, I will never see Makkah or Madina :-(
