About Roger Skinner had a "Critique of the Day" back a few. His biggest bit of advice? Something I have always held to... before you push that wee button... look around the shot, look to the left/right, up/down... and the subject itself... look around the frame and think and ask... then "snap." Here is one that was set up on that very same bit of advice [still, way before his critique of the Day] (he has seldom given me advice)... a shot of some stuff on the Erie Canal near Rochester, New York. The flag was placed there on purpose. The bridge and all else was seen before it was photographed. I have an even better example, but I think I'll share this one tonight.

love the diagonal as the flat plane playing off against the rising curve of the span.. the flag actually worries me a bit but hell a warning bell to stop you from wlking over the bridge when it is opening closing.. sheesh some people
