A wonderful dragonfly close-up and a fantastic "friendship" scene with the dragon on your hand. I don't think DOF is too narrow. Sharpness is concentrated on the most important point and that's the face of the friendly insect. I love this picture!

A really great close up. A less narrow DOF would have been even better, but I read it's difficult to achieve. Bye,Luca

Very narrow DOF.. here.. Ute.. well done shot.. considering the fact you used a 500D or 250D. I tried using such close up diopters.. your DOF becomes very very narrow.. You should check out "Mark Plonsky" here on UseFilm. He uses Reverse lens technique.. and got some great close ups of bugs.. you will love it.. After seeing your image above, and my personal experience with Hoya close filters +1, +2, +4, and the frustration i had, my macro lens would be a 1:1 100 mm one..
