Thank you so very much Debjit for your kind comments, I am honoured. I was not so sure about that myself, but it is reasuring and encouraging to hear that, I have heard a comment from someone else just recently on my composition. I try hard to think about it, because at times I get lazy and just point and shoot, and have to force myself again to think about the shot.
Next phase I guess I thinking about what I want to achieve from the shot. For example some of your landscape shots, the vibrant colours and amazing exposure, this is my passion but have been unable to capture this yet, I need to find a mentor or get some training or both.

What a great operation on your camera, Dan! Did you somehow get its schematics? Anyway, I'd also like to get some longer wavelengths. So, is that always as easy as to just remove some blocking filter? And how much knowledge/dexterity does it take? I think one should exactly knowing what he/she is doing or else the camera could be damaged, or am I too anxious about that?
Cheers!
Nick

Yes, I had to remove the infrared blocking filter just so I could get fast shutters, now the camera can see light wavelengths upwards to 1300nm, about 760nm is all we can see with our eyes.
This particular shot is at 850nm

Very interesting filter, really! Does the CCD of the camera have also the capability to detect IR? If so, what is its sensitivity to that wavelength range?
Cheers!

Thanks Nick for your comments again. This filter is the 850nm full visible light blocking filter, so this a true infrared photo

I guess you'll have much fun with that, Dan! And I wish you that too! Indeed such a dark heaven helps very much other things to stand out so prominently. But what filter is that?
Cheers!

Thank you so much Nick, yes the tree does really stand out like you say, I am looking forward to being able to get the most from this filter when the summer comes, as I love the really dark sky's and water that it shows. Should work very nicely for some landscape shots in the South Island of NZ at christmas when I am down there.

And a great image, Dan! It really fancies like a projection or some kind of hologram in the air! The contrast to the background added a very strong and special note! The strong lights and shadows on the tree together with the excellent details bring a very tangible impression of it. In combination with that "hologram" appearance it allows the tree to stand there in a very fascinating way!
Cheers!

Thank you dear Ania, I had another attempt at this tree some time ago, but the focus was out, so was glad that I could capture it again.
