Boy, I keep coming back to this shot. There's something really nice about it but the big sky keeps pulling my eye away from the woman and child.
I hope you don't mind but I just had to experiment with your shot in PS. First, I did a substantial crop to reduce the sky - it is a beautiful sky but I found it too distracting. I also placed the woman a little to the left rather than dead center to give the shot a bit of tension. Then I used the Shadow/Highlight tool to bring up the woman and child. Finally, I used the dodge tool to brighten up the child's face.
There's something about this shot that speaks to me. I just wanted to make the woman and child more prominent in the shot. You have a good eye to pick out this subject. Keep shooting.
