Shame on anyone for critique'ing this badly...Obviously these kind of shots are very spontaneous and everyone should know you take what you get! It's a wonderful image(and as I am a herpetologist, I should know a good rattlesnake shot when I see one!) LOVE IT...GREAT JOB my friend! Watch out where you walk next time though!

Ania, you should have seen the big brother. this time of year they blend into the grass very well. There pattern really does a good job for camo. This one was about 1 meter long. Not big but he got my attention.Be well my dear and have a good day,Stan

These amazing creatures stir so many feelings from people. I guess the Adam and Eve thing give the snake a lot of fear and loathing. I have lived in snake country most of my life and am fascinated at their adaptive colors and different MO's. How's project Jack doing? Family sends love back and keep well. Your friend, Stan.

Hi Dave, he was ready to go but I left before we could rumble. I have had a lot of rattler experiences over the years but remain upright and free. Got bit in my fishing waders one day but the fangs did not penetrate. Sure got my attention. The snake was over 4 foot long which is big for a Timber Rattlesnake. Was about as round as a pop can. I was a little shaken on that one.

Riny, they bite and venom are actually poison. Had a friend bit in leg that was hospitalized for a week and still has dead skin around the bite area on his leg. I lost a dog to one several years ago. If you are bitten and can stay calm and have help nearby it is not as bad as being in a remote area. The anti venom is usually necessary if the bite punctures the skin and gets in the blood stream. I respect them and let them have their space.
