In the justifiable fury in Britain at New Labour's incompetence, many have forgotten the dreadful state during much of Margaret Thatcher's period in power. This was a boarded-up Co-Op shop, an eyesore in an area that didn't see the worst of the economic slump then. I must get round to taking a snap of the shop that's been there for the past 15 years...though if the local council has its way, it'll kick out the shopkeepers, pull down the shops and sell the land to developers with no imagination and an eye for profit. (Luckily, the new slump has almost certainly stopped this from happening..)
