It's generally a good practice to turn one shoulder toward or away from camera. Generally, the body flat to camera is not the most flattering. Turning shoulder gives body more elegant proportion, creates 3d aspect, diagonal leading line and more graceful, esp. with female subjects. Otherwise, portrait is quite nice.

I don't use flash either.Recently I used it and I liked it.But I used ISO 400 and the aperture was almost in BULB so that I could catch only the last movement of the person and it worked.Anyway, I agree that flash is not a good companion when you want to make art.Once more, I like this image, it has lots of good aspects I cannot write them all because I need a whole paper!!!haha
