About Bright stars in the woodland undergrowth! Not certain of my identification of this plant but it grows in the shade on the dry forest floor.

I am interested in critiques because of some uncertainty on my part! Because of the subtle nature of the composition, I doubt many will go past the thumbnail. Thanks!

PS. I have since determined that this specimen is called the Northern Star Flower!

Wonderful !! absolutely great tones, and together with the fine detail, this picture shows what the beauty of these plants is about !!

Excellent toning here, Eb, and I like the composition of both blossoms and leaves.

Thank you, Avi! Your analysis is appreciated. I have tried this with three flowers to get a triangle, but failed to get one fully sharp. In this one, it seems that there is a natural triangle, too, as the eye is attracted to the leading foreground leaf and then to the two flowers in succession.

Beautiful composition Eb. It's really nice how the eyes travel from one corner of the image to another with the prinicipal subjects at roughly two golden points. Technically this is an excellent effort, with spot on b/w conversion and tones.

all the very bst,
Avi

Hi Eb, in this case I would prefer the colour one but with a bit of PS work on the background that comes through stronger in the colour version. In B&W it seems to loose some crispness, perhaps the leaves are slightly dark? Both are very nice though. Regards.

For those who might prefer, here is the colour version.
