Classic image. What makes it stand out most for me is the foreground with the dramatic feeling of the undercurrents from the tidal surge.
I know from experience, because I was encouraged to dive in by my older brother,who assured me it was not a big deal. Near panic set in very quickly as I was in way over my head.
It's been quite a few years and I have not done that since. Needless to say, I have gained a lot of respect for the East River.

Julie, this is a beauty of a shot! Wonderful perspective and excellent color tones...a fine, fine image! Yes, I do like the Nikkor micro lens...it is heavy and takes a bit of getting used to (I only have it two weeks!). I had been using the Sigma 105 with no complaints at all, but I wanted the extra help from the VR and get it a fair amount of time...The image quality is, to my eye, far superior to the Sigma....Do you live near the Brooklyn Bridge? Again, this is an excellent shot!

with the exception of the over exposed part in the sky and water (I know why you did that, still), this is 99% the shot that has been brewing in my mind for some time now.

Julie, no biggie on the grammar. This is all new to me to. I just starting using a computer a couple of years ago after a major back injury. Sold some stuff on ebay to pay bills. Started shooting digital in March when I got my Rebel. This sight has really helped put photography in perspective for me. Fun to see what others are doing and how they see their world. So much to learn, but that is half the fun. It is great to see things that I would have never been exposed to otherwise. You keep it up, you are tall behind the lens and growing as the days go by.
