About
Jhaki Bander has a power to attract. And it has a power to stay in one's memory. Such is the charm of this wonderful, un-excavated fort that it pulls me towards itself. I am not sure why. Is it the beauty? Or is it the extreme quiteness combined with some extraordinary life forms and almost zero human presence (sometimes you might find a lone fisherman from Bangladesh out here).
The place seen in the shot is an ancient masjid (mosque) which is now sadly in ruins. High tide takes over the ruins; low tide allows you to closely inspect what is probably one of the oldest masjid in the region.
Indeed this is my image. You are right in suggesting that this is a very saturated, dark image as compared to my other images, which happen to be very colorful and full of life. This is sublime in my sense and is probably my faviourite place in the country.
I gave a look at your portfolio before commenting on this image, Ameer: I was quite surprised in seeing that this very photo is completely different from the others which are colourful and usually describe some street life. I must say I do not find this image as interesting as many others in your portfolio: the horizon is tilted and I do not see a real subject here. It even seems a different photographer took this photo:-) I really like your others 1000 times more:-)
