Thanks a lot for the original image and the explanations, Puven.
Well, it was necessary to alter the image because the original is simply bad. The subject might have been as impressive as it gets, but the shot was terrible.
If you don't have the right possibility for a good image, then it is easy. Best thing to do: Don't shoot!
If you still shoot and the original photo is such a complete catastrophe, then you might have luck to get some much better result by editing. Still, say perhaps some words about that in the about box. It makes things clear.
Cheers!
Nick

Hi Nick, Thank you for your comments. I took this quick shot through the car window while my Husband was driving. I did not get a chance to take a second shot though might have prefered experimenting as the plane was landing quickly and getting out of sight. I tried editing it but this looked most preferable to me. I have attached the original shot just for you to view.

I've seen several representants of such images of the "lonely plane" on the sky, Puven, but none had the cleal contures and the strong but reduced color palette of yours. (Perhaps the strength of the color palette is just because it is reduced!)
It is a good image for its simplicity and impact. I still wonder if it could be done better. I don't know if the white cloud on the bottom under the plane is a such a good thing, and also if the big black region on the top is such a good thing. They both generate a very special character, but I think that the geometry is unbalanced this way.
An image with its very own idiosyncracy is always hard to classify under "liking" or "disliking". Perhaps it's better to say that it is an image on its own.
Cheers!
Nick

Beautiful capture! Love the choice of colours and tones. You managed to capture the plane's entire silhoutte in the sunset! Great shot :)
