All three are great for their extreme separation between the man and the background wall, and at the same time the very detailed look of his face. His physiognomy was really given an extra portion of strength by the sunlight from that direction.
I find your triptych well done, but my favorite is the middle image. I think this is the perfect one for his strong face expression. It keeps a bit of thoughfulness and a bit of a smile but at the same time it is the one that looks not "arranged" - he just stands there without even noticing the photographer. So he looks most jus like himself!
