Dear Ivonne!
This is the one of the most beautiful street shot that I ever seen. Maybe this is a "Companion of misery" as you said or selection of life style by a man who lost whole his trust to the humans.
Who knows, who is inside, who is outside. Yes a sacrificing love as much he can give a blanket to his unique friend....
Your is striking or like a hammer for our heads for thinking
a little bit about other humans maybe we look everyday but never seen.

something "fishy" here,at least to my eyes ,and i'll try to explain:first i'm talking about the situation and not about your picture ;) now this beggar doesnt look like the "typical" beggar,he doesnt look poor,dirty or suffer,his clothes are fine and his glasses are from fine quality,about the dog he also doesnt look like a street dog he look like a well taken care one,fat and as it look ,clean.
the dog also have a metal collar on his neck.
what i'm trying to say by this, is the situation looks fake to me,so it maybe a forge beggar or something that made for movie or so.
anyway the picture is very interesting and even if what i think of this beggar isn't right you made me think and react,so for that you deserve applause.
