This is a very competent shot, but a couple of suggestions:
1. Use black 'reflectors' (absorbers) just out of shot each side to give a darker edge.
2. Separate the cup and saucer, with saucer perhaps behind and to one side of the cup
3. Photograph on black glass or black melamine to pick up a fairly faint reflection.
4. Position your light a little further back to eliminate the gold reflection on the handle.

Overall, a very good effort

Thanks, Leslie. This is an antique chinese set. I shot it at a colector's home. I'll post other pieces latter! Regards!

Great detail. Love the blue of the background. Don.

This is an attractive product photo. The lighting is handled well. I do find the reflections in the gold trim somewhat distracting. Perhaps try experimenting with a white box next time to cut down on studio reflection. If you try working with these props again, try using the saucer as a background to the cup? Since we know their traditional relationship, it might be novel to see a different perspective.

Just a suggestion.

i must say the lighting on this is excelklent...it appears to be antique... if it is the lucky owner has a beautfulpiec for their coloection...your colors and clarity are good ...but it really is the lighting that sets this apart
