About
This is taken at a little holiday town on the edge of False Bay called Pringle Bay. The house in the foreground is my holiday house. This is my first venture in night photography. I wanted to experiment with really long exposures, say an hour or two, but i cant work out how to get my camera past 30 seconds. But it was very windy there, so i had to stand behind the tripod, holding out my jacket to shield the camear as it took the photo. I must have looked a bit strange, standing like batman in the road at midnight, but we all have to make sacrifices to get our shots, not so. Such is the life of a photographer. Interesting Tidbet: my father was also trying to take photos at the same time, and he was struggling. so i went over to help him, left the tripod alone, and boom, the wind blows it over and there goes my 18-55mm lense. i'm contemlpating taking it to insurance and saying i'm a war photographer.
Very nice shot. Sorry to hear about the lens. Hopefully the camera is ok! I've heard so many horror stories of tripods tipping due to wind or careless others around so I'm a bit paranoid. I try to keep a loose grip around the tripod neck just in case something goes wrong. good luck and keep the pictures coming!
