ahh OK So I guess I am better off having a serious look at HDR again as it does display one more clear advantage of shooting digitally... Thanks for your resizing notes.. I think my real issue is to do with shifting from the Kodak DCS Pro14n to the Canon 5D.. and the capture sizes that the two camera operate on.. I had an action built in PS to resize my images from the DCS and when I went to the Canon it doesnt seem to work as well.. The DCS captures an image at 300DPI and an image size of 38.1 X 25.4cm whereas the Canon captures a 72DPI 154.09X102.73cm (which makes absolutely no sense to me.. the KodaK SIZING IS MUCH MORE REALISTIC) but anyway.. looks like I have to re write that action for a best fit.. Save for the web.. blimey thats a fraught process.. the file sizes are all over the shop any you get these weird graduations in skies and such.. I tried that a few times and thought better of it kekeke thanks mate

Thank you Roger for the comment and the question. I am not sure what you mean about the uneven patches of light around the window.
There is one window and one door. The window, seen partially all the way on the right seems to have very consistent light. The window frame itself has stains of some sort, probably water, that gives a bit different color than the rest of the frame.
If you are talking the "halo" around the door frame, that is a product of your HDR itself. It depends on the tonal settings you use during the processing. Some like it, some don't.
As for re-sizing, I use a stair-step method, downsizing 300 pixels at a time. Once I get to just below the UF limit, I save as a "small" version. I also use USM slightly once the re-sizing is done.
Now, once you "save as" for that UF size, watch your file size. Often with an 850 pixel image, saving at full strength of "12", the file is going to be above the UF limit of 400 kb, especiallyu witn any amount of saturated colors. So I will use the slide and save as an "11" or "10" quality, until I am below that limit.
I am not sure if that is the problem you are asking about but I do see a lot of people putting on very tiny photographs, probably because they don't understand that you can adjust the file quality while saving in order to go below the 400 kb limit.
I also hear a lot of people using the "save for web" option... I would NEVER use that.. in my opinion, it considerably deteriorates your photograph.

and another question whats your resizing technique? I have a great deal of difficulty getting a suitable resizing technique.. that is one that looks any good when I resize them to fit the UF specs.. yours is as big as anything..whereas mine always end up tiny. Any assistance greatly appreciated.. thanks Roger

yeah pretty cool.. so why are there odd little patches of uneven light where the HDR thing has come together in the window... I am making a serious enquiry more than a comment, as the HDR technique I am aware of but have not used. I did take some shots ages ago but then never did anything with them .. I would have thought the blend would be seamless
