Interesting result...not sure I like the colored noise in the closest building, but I do like the horse in the background.:)

Roger, that is how this particular one came out. But I was experimenting with only a single photo. I did not have three photos of varying exposure levels. And the sky was fully clouded, total gray overcast... so in enhancing this through HDR, this is the way it came out.

really?? Is that what it looks like.. I took some shots last year in an attempt to use the HDR technique ..but I have to say I have never processed them...

Thanks, Stan. I am well versed on the filters, having played with and used them a lot. But if you aren't using layers to do them you are causing yourself a lot of headache and work.
Layers scare some people but it is nothing to be afraid of. You simply duplicate your original and work on the duplicate instead of the original.. Duplicate it as much as you want but always leave the original. That way, you can always go back and delete that layer if it doesn't look right. Then you don't have to start all over again.
With layers, you can also change the opacity of them, blending the changed layer with the original until it looks just perfect.
Drop me a line to the e mail address in my bio and I'd be happy to give you some tips if you want them. I can also send you a tutorial by Michael Kanemoto on gradient layers, which is extremely good.

No Dave I don't use any layering, just ADOBE CS-PS filters...artistic-roug pastels and Brush Strokes, sprayed strokes, very easy to do. You can adjust yourselfs the length of strokes, as you like. Go to filters and practise it. Good luck my friend, Stan

Thanks, Stan. I think it is okay but the strokes themselves may be a little too long. Do you use layering when you do these changes? If you do, a bit of opacity change may bring out the orignal details yet leave the impression of brush strokes.
I played a little with the photo too, but using a watercolor filter instead, here it is....

Thanks, Bernardo... this is one of the experiments with a single image. I kind of liked the high saturation it produced, and even the noise inside the barn...
It was a terrible day for photographs... but a year ago, I had no clue about HDR and didn't shoot for it.
Best wishes, Dave

Interesant image Dave. But the process here has degraded the photo in my opinion. A lot of "noise" in the black, and the sky has not enought bits of information, you can see the gray color transition.(but is my point of wiew...) Best to you Bernar

Great shot, the colors are amazing, you get a very moody shot here Dave, the green looks vivid against the grey of the sky, nice ruind buildings too!!!

Hi Dave. This is an interesting image. West Coast? Who would have thought, I was imagining Kansas with peace and tranquility getting ready to receive a tornato that might take me across to Munchkinland, he he.
Nice tones and presentations.
