Well where have I been? Playing with the Bee's I see... ;)
Basic 101 light rules are as follows for studio:
Shutter speed 1/80-1/125, f/5.6-f/8.0, ISO 100-200 use a light meter and you should not have to soften with PS at all... ;) As a matter of fact you should only have to crop and resize using PS... hehehe
When I get up your way I shall teach you to be a lighting god... LOL
