What I have is a 50mm lens mounted inverted on the existing lens. That lets you focus really close, yet preserving good sharpness. I learned that trick from a fellow photographer at the Seattle Photographic Society. It is a rather inexpensive way for doing 1:1 macro, but works quite well.
