About Again the same street and the same time like on "City darkness", and again some steps further away from the place where I took the first one of this series. This time I was lucky because normally no car was there at that time of the day. The captured traces of a single car's lights added something deserted, I think, that fits well the general atmosphere.

Any comment would be very welcome.

Considering that companies oblige one to wake up at 4:00 in winter time just for working inside such rigid and illogical time intervals, well it can be named "criminal movie".

But OK, social problematic aside now, I do see what you mean. Some touch of film noir here, I guess?

The power of this shot (compared with the others in this project) is the soft mist against the detailed road.

Best regards,

Hi Nick,
This one works "okay" But the soft focus one is the special one IMO.

Thanks a lot for the nice and detailed comment, Vandy!

The traces are indeed a main point of discussion. For me they represent the deserted atmosphere, since they look like some kind of "ghost", which of course can be found in such deserted places.

Now, from the purely photographical point of view, they indeed look like intruders, because they have such a different coloring/luminance than the rest.

Somewhere between the two views there has to be some optimal combination - which I think I didn't get exactly.

Best wishes, and thanks a lot again!

Sure I knew you would like them, Andre, and that's why I posted them! ;-)

Thank you very very much for your nice comment and the ideas, that I am eager to follow. I converted this one to B&W. Somehow the grain looks insufficient to me, so perhaps I should enhance it somehow. It still it works very well in B&W but does it look like some old one? I can't say.

Best wishes,

Nick

Converted to B&W after Andre's idea

Oh well, Rachel, on those days my eyes were not good. They were only extremely tired! ;-) I only wished to somehow document my own state of tiredness and hopelessness.

Thanks a lot for the nice detailed comment!

Thanks a lot for the nice comment, Dave!

I also foind the trace of the car nice, but it seems that this could develop to some point of discussion. For me such a trace is much like some kind of ghost, that makes the scene a bit strange.

Best wishes,

Nick

Lovely atmosphere; the fog is great.
Very good image, excellent composition.
But I don't like cars traces.

This is a really nice looking start to your latest project Nick. I'm sure you know that I would like this set, with the fog and emptier streets :) The do look great.
Another thing about this kind of image... they convert to a beautiful B&W that has a nice soft grainy look. I bet if these were converted they would look similar to those old night street shots from the 1920's. (except for the modern lights and painted lines of course)

An interesting misty night capture, Nick! I like the lights and their foggy halos. As you say the trace of the car lights add interest to the scene, too.
Dave.
