I am, then, very pleased to let you know that she will have a new album out in the next few months... I read an interview with her in a UK music magazine in which she talks about it. If you send me an e-mail address I'll scan it and send it to you... she is my favourite interviewee... she's always so full of bile and is always controversial... unlike those simpering neo-folkies who followed in her wake, all suffering from a lack of 'cojones'. Joni may not have 'cojones' in a literal sense, but boy does she have them in every other way! Other Joni news... there were supposed to be 2 CD reissues of 'Court and Spark', 'Hissing' and 'Hejira' with a whole CD of extra tracks, out-takes etc from each album, but the plug seems to have been pulled on the idea... probably by Joni herself. You could order them through Amazon, but then they disappeared... it's all very mysterious!

Hissing of Summer Lawns is a fabulous album. I bought it in 75 when it first came out and loved it. It got horrible reviews for the African rhythms and then years later, Paul Simon, Peter Gabriel and Sting followed in her footsteps. She is always 10 years ahead of everyone else. She ahs stopped writing music now and only paints, since she found the daughter she put up for adoption. Sorry this is so long. I am rather obsessive.

Ahh, Joni... the best. She would have been the first musician I saw play live in 1983, but the tickets were sold out. And then she never played the UK again! Sob! I have been listening to 'Don Juan's Reckless Daughter' A LOT recently, and have decided it's vastly underrated. My favourite Joni song? So difficult... probably 'Shades Of Scarlett Conquering'...

Patrick, I odnt believe you quoted Joni MItchell !! The only thing I love more than phtography (and my daughter and her kids if course) is Joni.
I was listening to Shadows and Light album last night, Hejira is my favorite song by her.

You are definitley an old soul Patrick. If I were 30 years younger and straight I would fly to the UK to track you down HA!
