Thanks, Michele- you should post some of your luxshots as well. I came to think that James Cook and you live in neighbourstates so maybe it would be possible to make a get-togetherphotoshoot if coming over there sometime.
For now we must dream about all the fun we wish for!
Take care:-)

Thank you, Luxpoet. I did have a good time down there enjoying the tranquility of the sea and the light.
Have a nice day or should I say night in Seattle?!

THanks a lot, James. I did think this was what you meant by it, but I had to be certain.
I will find the photos of yours I´m thinking about later. Of course I can´t expect you to know which ones out of the many you´ve taken, silly me.
Sorry for the late response. I decided to go down to the ocean this night and enjoy the last light.

Here is a page which tells you how to push and pull your exposure (on the d80). Scroll down to the section marked '+/- and Green Dot Button':

http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/d80/users-guide/controls.htm

The explanation for that is not so good but the how-to of it is fine. It is exposure compensation that you are adjusting. (The same thing exists for flash compensation.) This setting alters what your camera decides for the relationship between shutter time and aperature for a given scene. Pulling (negative numbers) the exposure will provide shorter shutter time given the same f-stop--hence blacker blacks.

As to your other question... I'm afraid I don't follow you. It would be better to ask that question on the photograph to which it refers so I don't have to work my brain so hard.

Thanks, Luxpoet. I shot this with 100 ISO. A stupid question - what do you mean with pulled by two stops? Is it the light that you turn down and thereby underexpose the photo slightly? I really would like to make some of the luxphotos you´ve made in the brownish colours looking like full waves. I guess it´s necessary with lots of little lights betewen each other to make this?

I like that blue streak (of course). I shoot with my lowest ISO and my exposured pulled by two stops to reduce the blacks to black as much as possible (this one has a lot of red haze).

Impressive, yea, sometimes the long exposure, the fast motion and the city lights can gives increadible result! Very interesting as an abstract that one...yea that looks like two thunders fight each other for a place to the ground!!!
Cheers!
