About This was the typical style of home built in the 1800's, sandstone(which Sydney sits on),high 10-11ft ceilings, steep shingle roof, wide verandah to shield the sun and a couple of fireplaces for the winter. The KITCHEN was usually located on the lee side of the prevailing winds(to prevent the fire taking the house.
