About Another try to paint with camera and lens alone. A multiple exposure which I think manages to convey the feeling of an oil painting especially at the white flowers between the grass under the trees. Any comments would be highly appreciated.

Many many thanks for the extended and very interesting comment, Andre! Indeed, the upper part doesn't work the impressionistic way, so I have to work on perfecting this. The multiple exposure way also my method here, but in addition to that I made small displacements/rotations of the camera from one frame to the next. Apparently they had to be made in such a way that the multiple depictions of the braches at the top appear nearer to each other, in order to avoid the "echo-like" repetition, which doesn't really support the look and feel of impressionism.

As about experimenting, well, soon some more "dangerous" experiments will follow.

Best wishes,

Nick

Hi Nick,
It is an interesting project to take on.
I think what you have done seems to work fairly well in the grass area and the bottom part of the trees. The feeling of the Impressionist painting is there in those areas for sure. The effect seems not as strong in the upper part of the image.
I had a book from the library about a year and a half ago that was all Impressionist Photography. The images were all created in the camera and darkroom using multiple exposures of the same image. Flowers blowing in the wind work beautifully when using this method. Good luck with your experimenting. It's the kind of thing that is very subjective. But, you will know it when you have a winner!
Andre
