About I feel this image captures the character of Old Montreal with it's narrow streets, heritage stone architecture, and old style street lamps. The sunny day with harsh shadows presented challenges in these narrow streets with the hard masonary surfaces and reflective surfaces such as windows. Even with these issues, I feel this image works as the contrasty lights contributes to the atmoshere. What do you think? I know this shot isn't super sharp as it was taken from the rough riding horse drawn carriage.

Thanks Jan, I'm not real knowledgeable of the area. I don't think there is a lot of night life right in Old Montreal but very near the area there are a lot of fine restaurants, pubs and theaters. A good time to visit would be during the Just For Laughs festival in the summer. We were there last summer and had a great time. It is a big city and as with any large city there are rough areas but I think generally Montreal is much safer than most.

Nice pictorial of Old Montreal; this is what I imagined it to look like; a place that my wife and I are sure to visit after I retire. I have heard so many great things about the area and the friendliness of the people. Good photo that no doubt the Chamber of Commerce would love: old, winding streets and the sun shining overhead. Wonder what the night life is like. Is it safe for tourists at night?
--Best to you, Jan

Good street shot showing the old architecture and narrow streets, Joe! Must have been a little cool in the carriage!
