About I tried not using a flash, but the rain drops didn't show up. And with my little POS point and shoot camera, I can only up the ISO to 400. So this is the best I could acheive. Im saving up for a nicer camera, but in the meantime, my cybershot is going to have to do. Any suggestions or tweaks I can do to improve shots like this? I really wanted to the rain to show up more.

John, thank you so much for such a detailed comment. I really appreciate your suggestions. Im always striving to be better. It's funny that you think the mouth isn't appealling. To me, I find the ears are funny looking. So a side shot would be so much better for both of us!!! :) Thanks again for your critique!

The flash is going off in about 1/millionth of a second or so. That freezes the rain drops and you get no motion blur that I think you want to suggest. Perhaps darken the background by say shooting at dusk under a street lamp so the light shows the drops and the subject but the background remains dark. FWIW, I would shoot the the child from the side. You still would know what he is doing but we dont have to look into his mouth which frankly is not that appealling to this critic. Cheers and keep on shooting. JB

Very cute, Rach.

My only suggestion is trying your unsharp mask to sharpen it up a little and it will also add a touch of contrast.
